Preserve the Flowers Behind Your Most Meaningful Moments
Some flowers are more than just bouquets. They hold the emotions of a proposal, the joy of graduation, the excitement of an engagement, or the memories of a milestone worth celebrating.
At Floradise Studio, we often meet customers who wish they had known earlier that fresh flowers are highly time-sensitive for preservation. While flowers may still appear "fresh enough" after a week, their internal condition may already have started deteriorating, affecting the final preservation outcome.
To achieve the best possible results for flower preservation, we strongly encourage bringing your bouquet to us within 3–4 days of receiving it.
Why Timing Matters for Flower Preservation
Fresh flowers naturally continue ageing from the moment they are cut. Even with water and care, petals gradually lose moisture, structure, and colour vibrancy over time. For preservation methods such as:
- Pressed flower preservation
- Silica gel flower preservation
- Framed floral artworks …the fresher the blooms, the better the outcome.
Flowers brought in earlier generally:
- Retain better colour
- Hold their shape more beautifully
- Experience less browning or translucency
- Preserve with finer details and texture
Bouquets that are kept for too long before preservation may develop:
- Wilting petals
- Bruising Browning edges
- Mould or moisture damage
- Petal transparency from refrigeration
While we will always do our best to work with each bouquet, early preservation gives your flowers the highest chance of lasting beautifully for years to come.
Recommended Timeline We recommend:
- Within 1 to 2 days: Ideal
- Within 3 to 4 days: Still suitable for most preservation works
- Beyond 5 to 7 days: Preservation outcome may become more unpredictable depending on flower type and storage conditions.
Flowers, such as peonies, tulips, hydrangeas, and garden roses, tend to age faster and should ideally be preserved sooner.
How to Care for Your Flowers Before Bringing Them In
If your bouquet is still in your care before preservation, here are some simple steps to help maintain its condition:
1. Keep Flowers Hydrated
Place the bouquet in clean water as soon as possible if the stems are exposed.
If wrapped:
- Remove lower wrapping layers carefully if needed
- Ensure stems can access water
- Change water daily if possible
2. Store in a Cool Environment
Keep flowers away from:
- Direct sunlight Heat
- Warm kitchens
- Car interiors
- Windows with strong afternoon sun
Air-conditioned environments are generally preferable.
3. Avoid Kitchen Refrigerators if Possible
While refrigeration may temporarily slow wilting, household kitchen fridges are not designed for florals and may expose flowers to:
- Excess moisture
- Condensation
- Ethylene gas from fruits and vegetables
- Temperature fluctuations
This can sometimes cause petals to soften or wilt rapidly once removed.
4. Handle Delicate Blooms Minimally
Try not to rearrange or squeeze the bouquet too often, especially for delicate blooms like roses, peonies, and hydrangeas. Bruising can become more visible during the preservation process.
5. Contact Us Early
Even if you are unsure about preserving your bouquet, reaching out earlier allows us to advise on:
