FAQs
Caring for Your Preserved Flower Dome – Q&A
Q: Are the flowers in the dome real?
A: Yes, they’re 100% real flowers that have been carefully preserved at their freshest using a special preservation treatment that keeps their natural beauty and moisture without the need for water or sunlight.
Q: How long can my flower dome last?
A: Preserved flowers don’t wither like fresh ones, so technically they can last for many years. That said, their appearance may gradually change over time depending on how they’re displayed and cared for.
Some customers say their domes still look beautiful even after 3 to 5 years! But if you're asking when the colours may fade slightly or if it still "looks gift-worthy" — that really depends on several factors such as exposure to sunlight, humidity, and how much dust it’s collected.
With proper care (cool, dry place away from direct sun and moisture), your dome can remain a lasting keepsake for a long time.
Q: Do I need to water them?
A: Not at all! Please do not water preserved flowers as moisture will damage them. Just let them stay dry and they’ll thank you for it.
Q: Where should I display my flower dome?
A: Place it indoors, in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight, humidity, or air-conditioning vents. Avoid spots such as windows or bathrooms to prevent fading or mould.
Q: Can I open the dome?
A: We don’t recommend opening the dome unless it’s absolutely necessary. The dome is designed to protect the flowers from dust and humidity. Opening it frequently might shorten its lifespan.
Q: How do I clean the dome?
A: Gently wipe the outside of the glass dome with a soft dry cloth or microfibre cloth. Avoid spraying any cleaner or liquid directly onto the dome or flowers.
Q: What should I do if I see mould in my preserved flower dome?
A: Mould can occasionally develop if the dome is exposed to excess humidity, moisture, or isn’t sealed well.
- If you notice any mould: Do not spray or wipe the flowers. This can damage the delicate preserved petals further.
- Gently open the dome (if it’s not sealed) and remove it from the affected area. Allow the interior to air out in a cool, dry place for a day or two.
- If the mould is minimal and on non-floral elements (like wood base or decor), you may try using a cotton bud lightly dipped in isopropyl alcohol to clean just that spot — avoiding contact with the flowers.
- If mould is on the flowers themselves or spreading, feel free to contact us at enquiry@floradise.studio — we offer refresh and refurbishment services to help restore your dome safely.
To prevent future mould, always keep the dome away from bathrooms, kitchens, windows, or humid spots and avoid opening it unnecessarily.
Q: The colours seem to have changed slightly. Is that normal?
A: Yes, over time, you may notice the flowers gently fade or change hue. This is completely natural and part of the preserved flower’s life cycle.
Q: Can I customise or refresh my dome after some time?
A: Absolutely! We offer refurbishment and refresh services if you’d like to breathe new life into your dome. Just drop us a message at enquiry@floradise.studio and we’ll guide you through the options.
